Congregational Update: September 19, 2025

Hi Dear Family,

DEADLINE FOR ANNUAL REPORT: All reports from committees and organizations are due in the Church Office by Monday, Sept. 29th.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Charlie Kirk, Roger & Gretchen Johnson at the death of his sister, Joanne Zillmer, and Doug & Shari Johnson and family at the death of his mother, Olive Johnson.

First Lutheran Youth & Families

• Sunday School will start on Sunday, Sept. 21. 9-9:20 am.  We are having a church picnic after worship this day. Please invite others to join us.
• Confirmation (6th-9th) will start Wed, Sept. 10 with PARENT(s) at Our Savior’s at 6pm. Meals 5:30pm & classes start Sept 17.
• Faith & Fun (K-5th) will start Wed., Oct 8 from 3:30-5pm at O.S.
• 9th Grade Confirmation Sunday will be Oct. 26 at 9am. If there are conflicts, please email or text Pastor a.s.a.p.

If you would be able/interested in helping with Sunday School, or confirmation please email our office flchurchamery@yahoo.com

Due to the weather, we are moving the service inside on Sunday.

• Wear your outdoor picnic clothes (Hawaiian, Sports Jersey, shorts, etc...)
• Picnic will be inside too. Don't have to bring anything, but PLEASE INVITE OTHERS TO JOIN US.
• CHOIR PRACTICE WILL ALSO START AFTER WORSHIP
• It is Rally Sunday and Sunday School starts upstairs at 9am. The kids will return to worship at 9:20.

Wednesday:

• Confirmation (6th-9th) at Our Savior’s at 6pm on Wednesday, Sept. 24th. 
• Meal 5:30pm
• Faith & Fun (K-5th) will start Wed., Oct 8 from 3:30-5pm at O.S.

• 8am Bible Study

• All articles for Annual Report are due in the Church Office.

Monday & Tuesday, Sept. 29 & 30: Red Cross Blood Mobile, noon-6pm at Our Savior's. Call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to set up an appointment. 

In September: Lector Cheryl Heiden. Communion Bread provided by Julie & Larry Riemenschneider. Ushers are Gary Hover and Shawn Barnette. Service Group Three serves treats.

In October: Lector Gwen Wold, Communion Bread: Linda Tempel. Service Group 4 serves treats. Ushers: NEEDED

THE AMERY AREA FOOD SHELF is again asking for help from First Lutheran friends. The need is increasing as funds are decreasing. Hearty soups and cereals would be appreciated. We'll be collecting donations for the next three Sundays (Sept 21, 28, and Oct. 5.

OUR ANNUAL MEETING will be held on Sunday, October 12th, immediately following our worship service. Just a reminder to leaders of organizations: Your reports are due in the Church Office by September 29th.

AT OUR ANNUAL MEETING WE HOPE TO CALL PASTOR TOM HAHN AS A PART TIME PASTOR.

TOM DESIRES TO BE ON THE ELCA ROSTER SO THAT WHEN HE LEADS WORSHIP HERE AND AT OTHER CHURCHES IN THE AREA HE IS PERMITTED TO GIVE HOLY COMMUNION.

IF HE IS NOT CALLED TO A CHURCH, HE IS NOT PERMITTED TO SERVE COMMUNION.

WE ARE SO GLAD TO HAVE HIM AS A PART OF OUR CHURCH AND WE ARE GLAD TO SHARE HIM WITH THE COMMUNITY. IT HAS BEEN A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR US!
TOM AND GRETCHEN ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE AND WE HOPE THAT EVERYONE CAN GET TO KNOW THEM.

TIM AND TOM WORK WELL TOGETHER AND WE ARE BLESSED.
